| Sky Bet make Justine Henin a 50/1 shot to win the Grand Slam next season after she ended 2007 in style. The world number one won her 10th WTA title of the year with a 5-7 7-5 6-3 victory over Maria Sharapova in the final of the season-ending Sony Ericsson Championships in Madrid. The win meant the Belgian star finished the year with a 63-4 win-loss record - giving her a winning percentage of 94. That is the best record on the women's tour since Steffi Graf went 86-2 in 1989. But Henin insisted she could get even better. After her win in Madrid, she said: "I think I can still improve a lot, in my attitude especially. "I have to keep improving my aggressive game, moving forward and taking my opportunities." However, Sky Bet clearly have doubts as to whether Henin can emulate Graf. She won the French and US Opens this year but was surprisingly beaten in the Wimbledon semi-finals by Marion Bartoli. The grasscourt event is the one major Henin has yet to win. The 25-year-old missed the Australian Open at the start of the year due to her marriage break-up. The 5ft 6in star has already been priced up as a 13/8 shot (VC Bet) to win the 2008 Australian Open, while she is 2/1 (Betdirect) to win a fourth consecutive French Open crown. Henin is a general 4/1 chance for Wimbledon and no prices are yet available for the US Open. It is therefore theoretically possible to get more than 50/1 on Henin achieving the Grand Slam. By making her a theoretical 2/1 shot in New York, the combined best prices make her 117/1 for the Slam. However, it should be remembered that her prices will shrink if she continues to impress at the start of 2008 - she is currently on a 25-match winning streak and hasn't lost since that shock defeat in SW19 back in July. Revise her Wimbledon and US Open quotes to 2/1 and evens respectively and you more or less get back to Sky Bet's 50/1. Graf was the last woman to win the Grand Slam, a feat she achieved in 1988. Only Graf and Margaret Court have won the calendar-year Slam since the sport turned professional in 1968. Henin's odds to win all four majors compare favourably with those of Roger Federer. The men's world number one is just 9/1 with Sky Bet to win the Grand Slam but he has, so far, been beaten eight times this season. Meanwhile, Sharapova's impressive displays in Madrid have seen her odds for the Australian Open cut. She is now as short as 7/2 to win in Melbourne with Blue Square, although Coral go double that price at 7/1. Sharapova was beaten in the 2007 Australian final by Serena Williams. The defending champion is 8/1 with Coral to retain her title, but potential backers are likely to be worried about the knee injury she sustained in Madrid.
